Southpark Edges Out Man Pushing Stroller in 10K

My brother Jeff (Southpark) and I headed to Sanford, NC Saturday morning for the Scott Dyer Memorial Run…the first (and probably only) official race for us before the Blue Ridge Relay.  And yes, as the headline suggests, Jeff did step it up in the final quarter mile to overtake a guy pushing his kid in a stroller!   This was the same guy we were eyeing (read…mocking) before the start.

The sad part (for me) is Jeff trained a 1/3 as much as I have over the past couple months…and still only finished 2 minutes behind me.  We ran together for the first 5 miles….and posted pretty good times for us…

Mile 1 – 7:32 mm

Mile 2 – 8:04 mm

Mile 3 – 8:32 mm

Mile 4 – 8:28 mm

Mile 5 – 8:40 mm

And then it fell apart for both of us at the six mile mark…oh well.

Hey guys, it’s not so bad … not only am I in awe that you can beat a guy pushing a stroller … I’m pretty impressed that someone can run with a stroller in the first place! ;)
