Nature Lesson For BadRad

BadRad,

Considering your recent concern about panthers (which are actually mountain lions/cougars in these parts) and bears I though it would be helpful to post a little nature lesson and some potential escape plans for the top predators you may encounter on your BRR journey.

This is a mountain lion – considering how close he is to this deer you really won’t hear him coming. Should you encounter this animal, we want you to know you did a great job during your tenure as League President and we will name a building after you somewhere.

This is a black bear. Should you encounter this animal please proceed as quickly as possible to the nearest tree and climb rapidly. If the bear follows you up the tree it was not a black bear but rather a grizzly bear (see picture below). If it turns out to be a grizzly, you can anticipate the same results as the “panther” above.

Grizzly bear – this is bad

You could also try this although this animal is a trained athlete. Enough said!

When you hear a sound in the woods this is most likely what is coming after you. However rest assured at 2:00 AM all of the above animals sound exactly the same when approaching.

Good luck and I hope this little lesson helps. Slacker

Slacker – isn’t that last frightful beast the one that attacked Agnoli on the run last year and scared him so much? http://teamlittleguy.com/2007/09/10/when-dogs-attack-a-few-more-photos/

Whew, thanks for this. I’m immediately forwarded to our team so we can have some safety lessons.
